What it does

Record. Find it later. Keep it local.

01 / CAPTURE

Live speech, then a cleaner transcript

Omi Bluetooth LE audio is saved on the phone. Bundled Vosk provides live English drafts; Whisper refines saved recordings after capture stops. Phone-microphone fallback is an explicit choice.

02 / LIBRARY

A searchable recording history

Calendar/day browsing, transcript search, playback and explicit WAV, RF64 or text export. Encrypted retained audio has a 15 GB quota; models and exports use extra space.

03 / CONTROLS

Make the Omi button useful

Manually choose Everyday, Meeting or Music profiles. Map press patterns to bookmarks, recording, media, phone shortcuts or a flashlight. Button-only standby stays connected without recording.

04 / PRIVACY

No account. No cloud transcription.

No PC relay, runtime model download or Internet permission. Audio and text use AES-GCM with an Android Keystore key. Optional notification vibrations use metadata, not message text.

Printscreens / real UI

Inside the Android app.

Actual Android system captures from the v0.4.13 test emulator—not mockups. Both show a disconnected, empty state. Tap either image for the full-resolution PNG.

Get it running

Install on Android.

  1. Download the APK. Use Android 8 or newer on an ARM64 phone. Both speech models are bundled in the 243.4 MB download; no model fetch is needed at runtime.
  2. Open it on your phone. Allow “Install unknown apps” for the browser or file manager you use if Android requests it. Install the APK, not GitHub’s source ZIP.
  3. Connect your Omi. Close other Omi apps, enable Bluetooth, then tap Connect Omi and grant the requested permissions. Android 8–11 also requires Location permission and system Location for BLE discovery; the app does not collect location.
  4. Record, then Stop & save. Recording begins when decoded audio arrives. Stop & save finishes the recording, starts local refinement and keeps button-only standby. Disconnect buttons ends that connection.

Build notes

Open source. Phone-local by design.

Stack: Android · Java/JNI · Bluetooth LE / Opus · Vosk · whisper.cpp · Android Keystore · AES-GCM · Gradle.

This downloadable app is separate from the older Omi Private / Hermes Voice Bridge experiment on the project shelf. It does not need a paired PC or Hermes relay.
